Our History: We started as the tabletop store in Long Island, New York called Hempstead China. We have evolved into a premier gallery boutique in South Florida. Below is our story...

Hempstead China to The Addison Collection

Over 80 years ago, Joseph Ponoroff, a young immigrant from Russia took a chance. He pooled his savings and decided to follow his dream and go into business for himself and opened a pushcart in the Bowery.  His prices and his quality of merchandise were incomparable.  Success came quickly; word of mouth was his best advertising. Soon people were calling Joe's pushcart a destination stop.

Before long he realized he needed more than a pushcart to hold all of the merchandise that people were asking for. With a truck filled with fine china and a lot of determination, he opened a store in Hempstead, Long Island called Hempstead China, a store like one no one had ever seen before. Located in Hempstead, Long Island it was the picture of elegance with an array of merchandise that no one had ever seen before. True to his word, even though the atmosphere had changed, the integrity of his pricing remained the same - unbeatable.

Hempstead China's reputation spread even faster and before long his son Fred was working beside him. Soon there were stores in Roosevelt Field, Smithtown and in the financial district of Manhattan. Catering to celebrities, royalty and more importantly the residents of Long Island the Ponoroff success was unsurpassed in the industry.

Now over 80 years later, his grandson Butch and his wife Deborah are following their dream. The Addison Collection is the store they have always wanted.  Sensitive to the needs and dreams of our customers, we present a collection of accessories and gifts of unique perfection. For the one who has absolutely everything, to the one just beginning, we will open your eyes to the possibilities; things for every emotion and occasion. And like Grandpa Joe we don't believe that extraordinary pieces need to have extraordinary prices.
